University of California, Los Angeles (HDR GYN and HDR Prostate)

FELLOWSHIP DETAILS

This two month fellowship is designed to instruct physicians in the techniques of high dose rate prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy. Participants will receive instruction and hands-on training to be competent in high dose rate brachytherapy. Participants will be involved in approximately 15-20 cases per week. Our intention is to match, then exceed, the participant’s experience level.
Training will include interactive lectures centered on current concepts of prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy. Live patient interviews and case presentations will address the spectrum of patients suitable for this procedure.
Emphasis will be placed on progressive thinking and participants are encouraged to share ideas and clinical cases from their own practice. Special breakout sessions will be available for treatment planning and for patient management.
Finally, there will be an opportunity and expectation to participate in ongoing research projects within the University of California, Los Angeles research and education department. Opportunities include data collection, literature review, abstract and manuscript writing focusing on cure rates and quality of life outcomes.
