The American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) is pleased to announce the inaugural call for nominations for the 2025 Ulrich Henschke Award. This prestigious honor, named after Dr. Ulrich Henschke, the revered pioneer of modern brachytherapy, will be presented at our Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The award celebrates Dr. Henschke's groundbreaking work from the 1950s, which continues to influence our field today.
The Ulrich Henschke Award celebrates outstanding contributions to brachytherapy, notable achievements in the broader radiation therapy community, and dedicated service to ABS. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize a peer who has significantly impacted our discipline through innovation, leadership, and commitment.

All nominations will be considered and reviewed by the ABS Board of Directors, who will evaluate each candidate based on their contributions to the field, achievements in radiation therapy, and service to the ABS. Past Henschke Award Recipients
The Ulrich Henschke Award is the highest honor that the American Brachytherapy Society can bestow on a practitioner of brachytherapy, awarded for contributions to the field of brachytherapy, the radiation therapy community, and to the ABS. Dr. Henschke is considered the father of modern-day brachytherapy for his initial work in the 1950s, including his technological advancements that are still in use today. The Board of Directors of the American Brachytherapy Society congratulates our past recipients.
